LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR

Martyn & Jose May 2018

Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

In 2019 we called the year, “Through the year in Prayer” our Prayer Life was increased and the church was blessed and grew in numbers and our Love for our community was converted from prayer into action.  We continue to live out the Luke 4:18-19 manifesto throughout 2020 as our guiding focus.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”

2020 is our year of “Fixing our eyes on Jesus” Building on our “Through the year in Prayer” 0f 2019, we continue to build into our church a character and aspiration of our own three “R’s”

1.    Become Relevant

2.    Become Revived and

3.    Become Robust.

I introduced a vision to the church for “Town Centre Chaplaincy” early in 2018; I then shared the vision with the Churches Together group, the Police and the Town’s businesses. It is cross denominational.  Since November 2018 we have been able to patrol in our town every Friday, which is market day. We patrol from 10.00am-4.00pm. The church has become RELEVANT, our Christian Community involved with Chaplaincy are REVIVED and those who know and pray for the work of the Chaplains and the way God is moving in our town, clearly show a ROBUST attitude.

Having Chaired the Littlehampton Churches Together for another year it has been a privilege to celebrate our Town Chaplaincy’s first year of ministry in November 2019, plus our 3rd year of The Nativity production at the Switching on of the Christmas lights Christmas 2019, both of which were birthed here at LBC. This year the town asked us to do two performances. It is now an expected item at the turning on of the Christmas Lights.

Jose and I are still in love with our town and the people. It is such a joy knowing that where ever we walk there are those who will say hello stop and talk.

Networking in our town has been so exciting, making friends throughout all the different agencies and offices. Therefore it has been a time of networking and working with key people, stakeholders of our town, the town’s activists and visionaries. Bringing Littlehampton Baptist Church to a higher profile and therefore Jesus, who is playing a more visible role in our town through His church.

Littlehampton Baptist Church is a church with a real “Can Do” attitude.  If “Welcoming” and “Hosting” was an Olympic event, then Littlehampton Baptist Church would be Gold Medallists and World Champions every year.

I am sure 2020 will continue to be an exciting, blessed and awesome year of service for us all at LBC.

To our Brothers and Sisters in neighbouring churches, to our new friends and those whom we are yet to meet, to those who have just stumbled onto our website, to you all, my wife and I want to bless you all with the love of Jesus. .

If you are visiting Littlehampton, come and join the “Welcoming Church” and be a part of an exciting chapter being written in the vision of “Fixing our eyes on Jesus”

In His Name

Reverend Martin and Jose Seymour
